Project Overview
ProximityHat is a wearable sensory augmentation system that provides proximity feedback through pressure or vibration around the head. It extends human spatial awareness using haptic cues.
Our Goal
Develop a head-worn interface providing directional feedback for obstacles or spatial cues. Evaluate how haptic feedback can enhance orientation and navigation. Integrate within the TECO Wearable Framework (TWS).
Highlights
Uses distributed actuators for omnidirectional awareness. Inspired by assistive and sensory substitution devices. Developed for research on augmented perception.
Impact
Supports navigation for visually impaired or in low-visibility environments. Advances research on human sensory augmentation. Demonstrates haptic interface design for head-worn systems.
