bParts

Project Overview

The bPart is a miniaturized sensor node (<1 cm³) developed for cyber-physical systems and smart environments. It integrates Bluetooth Low Energy communication with multiple MEMS sensors, including light, temperature, humidity, and 3-axis acceleration, along with a processing unit and visual feedback via RGB and infrared LEDs. Designed for extremely low power consumption, it can operate for years on a coin cell battery and supports energy harvesting. Its software simplifies configuration and abstracts Bluetooth complexity, enabling easy integration with mobile devices and backend systems.

Our Goal

The goal of the bPart system is to enable scalable, long-term, and unobtrusive sensing by providing an ultra-low-power, highly integrated sensor platform that can be easily deployed for retrofitting, motion detection, real-time monitoring, and data-driven applications in smart environments and Industry 4.0 scenarios.
