Project Overview
The MediaCup is an everyday coffee cup enhanced with sensing, processing, and communication capabilities embedded in its base. It is designed to explore how ordinary objects can be transformed into intelligent, connected systems. Using a set of instrumented cups and supporting infrastructure, the project investigates ultra-low-power infrared communication, location-aware routing, and hybrid positioning systems, while also studying user behavior in environments populated with smart objects.
Our Goal
The goal of the MediaCup project is to investigate the potential of embedding computation and communication into everyday objects in order to gather contextual information, enable location-aware interaction, and better understand user behavior in smart environments.
